Miami Spice
Miami, one of the most cultural motivated cities in the world, people from all over the world live in this wonderful city, commuting and living their lives daily. Most of them chose to move here from their main land, and live their life here. It all started in the 1920’s and 30’s when Miami started to become a popular vacation spot. People started to move here and open businesses, such as hotels and restaurants. Over time even more foreigners from both ends of the horizon flocked to Miami to live and also for business opportunities.
They didn’t only bring their belongings, but also a piece of their culture with them as well. This is where it all started, where Miami started to become the melting pot of Florida. Today when you walk around Miami as soon as you step outside your front door you can see the diversity all around you, the different types of stores, cars, and people. The epicenter of the culture here in Miami is definitely the cuisine, you can walk down to the shops and walk a couple block and find at least 3 different types of restaurant, could be Chinese, Latin, French, there’s wide array of foods here.
Every year Miami hosts this well known event, Miami Spice. It takes place from August 1st- September 30th, flaunting the most eclectic foods from around the world, representing Miami’s finest chefs. In this two month window, Miami’s top of the line restaurants offers three course meals, lunch for $22 and dinner for $32. The chefs get to show off their signature dishes for an extremely discounted price for the two month period. This year will be the events 10 year anniversary, so you know there’s going to be some extra delicious dishes going to be showcased this year. Not only is it an opportunity to taste some of the finest cuisine in the world, but it’s also a learning experience.
Toward the end of August Whole Foods Market hosts life style cooking classes at 7:00pm, it’s free to the public and a perfect opportunity to get some great cooking tips and tricks from the professional chefs. Over 100+ restaurants will be participating in this yearly event, meaning thousands of different dishes to be tried, and enjoyed. Miami Spice isn’t only about serving the most superb dishes to its residents, but also a fundraiser for Share Our Strength, Madison’s Wish and Education Fund’s Plant a Thousand Gardens Collaborative Nutrition Initiative. The VIP tickets are $125 dollars, and include complimentary sponsor specialty drinks, and a spectacular performance featuring Cirque Eloize iD, a renowned French performer. This fundraiser is going to take place at Miami’s convention center; general admission is $50, going to great causes. If you happen to be in the area or on vacation it’s a great opportunity to enjoy some exquisite food and entrĂ©es.
